1. Professional Background

• Diego Ramirez, our Director and Engineering Manager is an experienced Chartered Professional Mechanical Engineer.
• Diego graduated with a bachelor of Mechanical Engineering in 2001 from the Universidad del Valle Cali Colombia. Diego began his career in the sugar mill factories of Colombia providing maintenance services with Monres Ltda. He was responsible for the technical execution of maintenance projects, steel fabrication of tanks and pipes and onsite installations.
• In 2003, Diego’s interest in design and research took him to Cenicaña, the Colombia Sugar Cane Centre. At Cenicaña, Diego was responsible for the assessment and improvement of sugar cane preparation and milling processes. His projects included the research and redesign of welding procedures for sugar cane shredder hammers, energy optimisation for preparation and milling equipment, failure analysis and 3D modelling and simulation using Finite Element Analysis FEA. Diego published national and international technical papers from his research at Cenicaña.
• In 2004 Diego achieved his national registration as Professional Engineer from the Consejo Profesional Nacional de Ingenierías Eléctrica, Mecánica y Profesiones Afines - Colombia.
• In 2006 Diego moved to Australia to study English and complete a Diploma of Business Management.
• In 2008 Diego became a member of the Institution of Engineers Australia in the Mechanical College.
• From 2008 until 2010, Diego was employed as a Mechanical Engineer for Stainless Tube Mills Australia and was responsible for the design and fabrication of the forming station, tooling design, strip guide and driven turk heads for the laser welded tube mill.
• In 2010 Diego moved to Protube Pty Ltd. At Protube Diego had two different roles: firstly, he held the role of Developing Engineer and secondly Sales Engineer. At Protube Diego was responsible for 3D CAD Design and modeling of special purpose machine solutions using Autodesk® Inventor® Professional, providing technical support to customers, and conducting business development and marketing of steel processing equipment, bevelling and chamfering machines and coolants and lubricants.
• In 2012 Diego achieved the Chartered Status from Engineers Australia CPEng, and the engineering registrations as National Professional Engineer Register, NPER, and Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland, RPEQ.
• In 2013, Diego established D.R. Engineering Solutions Pty Ltd, providing mechanical engineering consulting services to clients across manufacturing, roll forming, construction, and industrial sectors. As Director and Engineering Manager, Diego is responsible for the delivery of engineering services, business development, client relationships, project management, and technical leadership.
• After founding D.R. Engineering Solutions: Over the years, Diego has successfully delivered projects involving mechanical design, product development, finite element analysis (FEA), structural steel detailing, engineering drafting, manufacturing support, and roll forming engineering. His experience extends across a wide range of industries, supporting organisations with practical engineering solutions tailored to real-world manufacturing and operational requirements.
• Roll Forming & Software Specialisation: Diego has developed specialist expertise in roll forming engineering, including tooling design, flower pattern development, process optimisation, and simulation-driven validation using COPRA® software solutions. Through D.R. Engineering Solutions since 2016, he represents data M Sheet Metal Solutions in Australia and New Zealand, providing local sales, support, training, and consulting services for COPRA® roll forming software and quality control systems.
• Training & Autodesk Expertise: Since 2014, Diego has been actively involved in Autodesk education and professional training, working with various Autodesk partners and organisations across the region to deliver software training and technical support. Over this time, he has helped engineers, designers, and manufacturing professionals develop their skills in Autodesk Inventor and simulation technologies through practical, industry-focused training. Drawing on both engineering and training experience, Diego combines software expertise with real-world application, helping users improve productivity, workflow efficiency, and confidence in their engineering tools.
• In August 2026, D.R. Engineering Solutions became an Authorised Autodesk Training Centre, marking an important milestone in the company's continued commitment to engineering education and professional development. Today, the company delivers training across Autodesk Inventor Professional, Inventor Nastran, CFD, Fusion, and Advance Steel, supporting individuals, engineering teams, and manufacturing organisations throughout Australia and beyond.
• Industry Leadership & Knowledge Sharing: Diego is passionate about sharing engineering knowledge and supporting the broader engineering community. He has delivered technical conference presentations in Roll forming, facilitated professional development sessions, and presented at Autodesk University 2026 in Las Vegas on a practical workflow for simulation, engineering design and optimisation of vibration systems using Autodesk Inventor Nastran. His approach combines practical industry experience with modern engineering tools to help organisations improve engineering performance and achieve successful project outcomes.
